Medicell wasn’t born in a boardroom. It was born from the pain and frustration of a dedicated athlete who refused to accept his limits.
Our founder, Tomonari Shibutani, was a passionate rugby player whose career was threatened by a persistent injury. Traditional therapies offered only fleeting relief. He was told this was his body’s limit. But his journey didn’t end with his own recovery. As a practitioner in chiropractic care and kinesiology taping, he witnessed countless other athletes trapped in the same cycle of strain, injury, and frustration. He saw the need for a tool that could work in harmony with a trainer’s hands, shifting the focus from simply “fixing” what’s broken to building a body that doesn’t break in the first place.
This ignited a relentless quest for a real solution. His search led him to an unexpected discovery: the gentle, restorative power of negative pressure, or “pulling” care. That question—What if this concept could be perfected for performance and recovery?—became his obsession. That obsession became Medicell.
The proof of its profound potential came from an unexpected place: the world of elite horse racing. When we first used Medicell on a single racehorse struggling with its gait, the results were transformative. We watched it rediscover a calm focus and a fluid, powerful stride. It was a revelation: true conditioning isn’t just about muscle; it’s about the delicate interplay between body and mind.
This discovery solidified our core belief. The same empathy that drove us to help an injured athlete, a struggling horse, or even an aging family dog unable to move with ease, is the bedrock of our company. It’s a philosophy of expanding the circle of care to any life seeking to reclaim its vitality.
